Steam Engines and Waterwheels
A pictorial study of some early mining machines by Frank D Woodall.
The steam pumping engine invented by Thomas Newcomen and developed by James Watt was further refined in the 19th century to become the Cornish beam engine. The china clay areas of Cornwall were among the last stronghold of these engines and this book contains numerous previously unpublished photographs of them.
Working examples of the Cornish engines elsewhere are also shown as well as rotary steam engines and steam winders.
This book is a unique record for the model engineer who needs authentic information, the technical historian as well as those who just appreciate fine engineering. Profusely illustrated 96 pages. This book is now out of print so a last chance to get a mint condition copy while stocks last.
